It’s that time of the year again for people to go loco over Cleveland’s favourite market. On Ekka Wednesday, the 16th of August, Cleveland’s Crazy Day Market will be held at the Cleveland Markets on the Bloomfield Street. It will be open between 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

A Crazy Day to Hunt & Haggle

The Crazy Day Market will be a day filled with an insane amount of real deals on food and goods, and fun entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. There are a lot of items, different and unique, that you might find in the market. Remember that prices are not fixed, so it’s the perfect time to bargain!

Here are some helpful tips that you should remember.

Look Around & Compare the Prices

Check out the market. If you find something that interests you, check the item in an instant because you never know if you could find this item again. It’s an annual market, so everyone will go loco on the stalls.

However, there are chances that two or three stalls may offer similar items. If so, compare the prices. Set a maximum amount that you are willing to spend in your mind before haggling.

Remember the Haggler’s Code

Be courteous. Do not start haggling if you are not sure about buying the item. If the vendor agrees on your price, you should buy the item. This is the haggler’s code.

Quality — Check for Flaws

Minor damage is a factor that should be considered. Some items have tiny flaws or imperfections that allow the seller to give you lower prices. Check the items carefully and if you find some major damages, leave and save the haggling. This is Crazy Day Market. There will be other stalls that may offer the same product and a better deal.

The Seller’s Offer

Find out the lowest price that the seller can offer. If they mentioned a price that is higher than the amount you have in mind, hesitate. Sellers will often voluntarily offer a lower price if you show hesitation on the first price they mentioned.

Time to go low, but not too low

If you think that the price is still too much, it’s okay to go low. Remember the maximum price you have in mind and if it does not match with the seller’s price, ask for a better deal.

However, you should know when to stop. The sellers have invested a lot of effort to put up a stall in this annual market, so setting a price lower than the item’s worth may offend them. Respect the item’s worth and the seller’s effort.

Multiple Items = Good Deal

There might be something else in the seller’s stall that you like. If you find other items that interest you, you might get a great deal. Sellers will offer great deals if you buy in bulk.

It’s Okay to Leave

If you think that the price is still too much, leave. There will be another item worth bargaining for, that’s for sure. If another stall is offering the same product, compare the prices. It’s okay to leave and it’s okay to come back if the first stall offered the lowest price.

The Closing Time

Prices can get really low just before the Crazy Day Market closes. You might find a better deal at this time. Stallholders would want their items to be sold out by the end of the day.

Haggling is just a part of the crazy market experience. It’s also the time to check out some good food and gourmet eats. It’s Ekka Wednesday, so go loco and have fun!
