Cleveland residents have a lot of exciting things to look forward to in the coming days. Aside from the Commonwealth Games, the Redland City Council will be hosting a leg of the relay, a Queen’s Baton Relay Cleveland Community Celebration, and the Redland’s Games Carnivale.

Queen’s Baton Relay

On 31 March, the council will host a relay and the a community celebration for the Queen’s Baton Relay.

The relay will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Cleveland Point Reserve and will go through Shore Street North, North Street and Shore Street West.

At 9:40 a.m., the community celebration will take place at the Baby Bay Harbour Park. It will also be the official welcome of the Queen’s Baton to Cleveland.

Olympic Gold Medallist and beach volleyball star Natalie Cook OAM and Lincoln Lewis will be hosting the event.

There will be fun activities as well such as weaving workshops, free ‘come and try’ sports and games such as volleyball and gymnastics.

A giant trapeze will also be present at the event by the Flipside Circus.

Event goers can also take in the wonderful cultural displays.

Don’t worry, though. You won’t go hungry here as there will be food and drinks available.

The Queen’s Baton arrived at North Stradbroke Island on 8 January. The baton was carried by Quandamooka elder Aunty Rose Borey.

Redland’s Games Carnivale

From 4-15 April, be part of the RGC at Raby Bay Harbour Park. This is a major event from the council as part of their Redlands Healthy & Active Program. It will start from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

There will be free physical activity for all ages as well as other sport and recreation activities.

There will be also be giveaways, prizes, and competitions.
